At Journal we are very inspired by his many experiences and technological expertise and by his ability of giving the photographs some edge and the way he plays with the adventurous and innovative contrasts.

Oliver a well-traveled man who finds inspiration in architecture and the nature and has been fortunate to explore fascinating places around the world. He loves taking pictures of abandoned sites and knows how to convey a story through the lens.

He’s digital director for Studiohangloose who was founded way back in 1992, which is a full service creative agency that creates engaging experiences across a wide range of media with a particular focus on technology and the web.

Q: How did you get in to photography?

A: I started out when I was 15.
My parents gave me a Polaroid: it was love at first sight. They soon came to regret the choice, as I was shooting hundreds of pictures and films were expensive.

Q: What is your definition of a good photo/job?

A: Photography techniques are important but storytelling is crucial. I consider a good photo if it can somehow trigger a particular emotion of the viewer.

Q: When did you get your first camera?

A: When I was 15 but I first started using a proper SLR camera at 17. I bought it because I signed up to a free of charge photography course at high school.

Q: Do you have a favorite photographer or one which have inspired you more than others?

A: I love taking pictures of abandoned sites – people often make me aware that people I feature in those sites become beautifully part of the context.

Q: You are a very well traveled man. Where is your favorite destination and why?

A: South East Asia is my favorite destination.
I feel quite at ease with the culture and I find it extremely safe walking around with my equipment in those areas but more importantly those landscape are a perfect fit for my photography style.

Q: Which artist do you admire most?

A: Big names apart I have found so many talented artists on the web. My favorites are definitely Kyle Thompson and Marta Bevacqua for their unique photography style. I also don’t mind Zack Seckler photography concepts.

Q: Your pictures are always taken outdoors. What does nature mean to you?

A: City life is always frenetic. Photography is my solution to escape from the city and outdoor photography just make me feel at peace with myself.

You are very active on social media. How important is the onlinecommunication to you?

A: I owe social media my personal success.
Many professional photographers are distant from those media, as they believe they can undervalue and undermine their jobs. I have the opposite opinion and I believe those media are crucial to be closer to any audience I want to give me opinions on my jobs.

Q: What is the most important as an entrepreneur?

A: Never forget your objectives, challenge the status quo and always learn from the mistakes.
It can be relatively easy to reach success but it is more difficult to maintain it. My recommendation is to have an always-humble approach and to think that you are always working on a never-ending and constantly-needs-to-be-improve project.

Q: What is your future plan? Some new projects in the pipeline?

A: I have started a project that involves inject excitement in my audience by producing videos of different world destinations and cultures.

Some of those videos are visible in this platform. I am showcasing my skills as my dream is to get commissioned to produce similar videos.
